It’s graduation time and there’s that moment when the diploma is delivered into the hands when everyone gets their cameras ready.

I was thinking back decade by decade over my life. Each decade like another year in school.
You can do a few things with your history. Regret it, wish you had parts of it back to relive, try to forget it, cherish every second and so on.
For people like me, who review their mistakes or at least question if there could have been a better way or a combination of both, it may be a good idea to treat it like the math quiz or the world history exam.
But the big difference for those of us who believe that our Teacher is a “Class A” Guy, life’s school is all about the heart. Our Teacher lets us “fall forward.” It’s called the “School of Grace.”
I can’t change my history. But in His class, I can review my notes with some “grace-colored glasses.” Then, I can move onward knowing that mastering His class is the test of a lifetime – yet there’s no dread for the finals.
“God is love. When we take up permanent residence in a life of love, we live in God and God lives in us. This way, love has the run of the house, becomes at home and mature in us, so that we’re free of worry on Judgment Day-our standing in the world is identical with Christ’s. There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life- fear of death, fear of judgment-is one not yet fully formed in love.” I John 4:17,18 The Message Bible
Probably the coolest scripture that I’ve ever found, my life’s scripture, in fact, is about graduation day. But more than that, it’s about being able to take a class so hard yet so deep and be profoundly confident that our Teacher knows how to get us to the platform with flying colors and lots of flashbulbs:
“Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies Himself, just as He is pure.”
I John 3:2 NKJV
Switching that tassel will be worth all the hassles.
